It's hot, the economy sucks right now.... but wouldn't it be nice to get something new? Well, just last week I was cleaning out my closet and my husbands. Between the two of us we had some things that were too nice for Salvation Army but not nice enough for a designer re-sale. So, we went to this great place in Brooklyn called Beacon's Closet in Park Slope. (they also have a location in Willimsburg) They evaluate your clothes and offer cash on the spot for 35% of the donation value or credit in the store worth 55% of the donation value. ( not sure how the "value" is determined but think it is based on what they can sell it at the store for) We were about to walk out with $75.00 cash when I spotted a cool bag in the display case. It was a brand new Lamb bag, with the tags on it, originally priced at $550.00! I really don't need another bag but it looked so amazing that I asked to look at it closer. In the end the nice saleswoman let me use what would have been my merchandise credit towards the bag and then got the remaining $35.00 back. So, in the end I dropped off two bags of clothes that would have never been worn as well as taking up valuable closet space, walked out with $35 cash and a brand new $550.00 bag! I had never felt so cool!
